Día Internacional de la Esclerosis Múltiple en Castellón

Como novedad, este año, cualquier persona ha podido adherirse virtualmente a este cordón a través de la página web de la Asociación Española de esclerosis múltiple (www.aedem.org). Este acto se realizó de forma simultánea en las entidades adheridas a AEDEM-COCEMFE repartidas por el territorio nacional con el fin de contabilizar los kilómetros de cordón humano a favor de la esclerosis múltiple.

En la ciudad de Castellón participaron 91 personas entre miembros de la AEMC (afectados, familiares, profesionales, etc.), autoridades, alumnos de la Coperativa Salus de Castellón y voluntarios en general que han mostrado su solidaridad con este colectivo, de forma que han recorrido 154,70 metros que se sumarán al total de los metros recorridos en las otras entidades.

En el decálogo de reivindicaciones AEMC solicitó una mayor implicación de las administraciones públicas en la investigación de esta enfermedad, así como acabar con la demora en la administración de los tratamientos, desde que el médico propone un inicio o cambio de medicación hasta la administración del mismo. También revindicó que los recortes sociales no afectasen al mantenimiento del tejido asociativo, así como al reconocimiento del 33% de discapacidad asociado al diagnóstico para apoyar la reinserción laboral y social.

Con este acto se quiso hacer visible y dar a conocer esta enfermedad desmielinizante neurodegenerativa y crónica del sistema nervioso central, que afecta a dos millones de personas en el mundo y que actualmente no tiene cura.
